Purple for Penny

A little jewel of a moth has arrived for Penny's birthday. Mind you, we went for a lovely tea with friends yesterday - also a birthday - and she wasn't too taken with the purplish new decor inside the famed hotel. We were outdoors though, and it was very lovely, with that key ingredient of a good summer tea: lashings of cream for the scones. I speak as one who has just had their five year NHS check...

I must go and finish wrapping the presents. But this little gem is, I think, Pyrausta purpuralis, and it was skittish. I took this one photo and, while the camera was adjusting itself for a second, the moth flitted away. But many thanks to it for gracing this auspicious day.
